The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and GCash have formed a strategic partnership to streamline national ID registration and enhance financial inclusion across the Philippines. The collaboration establishes a unified process allowing citizens to simultaneously register for their National ID and open a verified GCash account at PhilSys-On-Wheels locations. The initiative supports the PSA’s broader efforts to expand National ID registration access through strategic partnerships.

The initiative launched in Barangay 194, Pasay City, through the “Hustling Mass Market Event,” which extended services to surrounding barangays. The co-location agreement creates a one-stop solution for Filipinos seeking both government identification and financial services access, following the successful rollout of the Digital National ID system by the PSA and Department of Information and Communications Technology.

The partnership marks a significant milestone in digital identity adoption, with over 56 percent of GCash users already using their National ID as their primary verification document. The streamlined process eliminates traditional barriers to participating in the digital financial ecosystem, particularly regarding identity verification requirements. The development advances the Philippines’ ongoing efforts to modernize its identity infrastructure through the PhilID program.

“This co-location initiative with PSA supports our shared goal of extending financial inclusion to underserved communities by providing a venue to register for a National ID and open a GCash account at the same time,” said Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr., president and CEO of G-Xchange, the mobile wallet operator of GCash.

The program offers guidance on mobile wallet solutions to help citizens manage daily transactions and improve financial stability. By combining National ID registration with immediate access to digital financial services, the initiative aims to accelerate economic participation among previously underserved populations, supporting the government’s broader financial inclusion objectives.

Residents participating in the program can complete their National ID registration while simultaneously gaining access to GCash’s digital financial services platform, establishing a foundation for broader engagement with both government and financial services. The integration represents a significant step forward in the Philippines’ digital transformation journey, building upon the country’s existing digital identity infrastructure.
