Spreedly and EBANX Partner to Expand Digital Commerce Access Across Latin America, Empowering Local and Alternative Payments

As the popularity of alternative payment methods surges across Latin America, leading Open Payments platform Spreedly and global fintech EBANX have announced a strategic partnership to enable international businesses to seamlessly access local payment methods across 17 countries in the region. This collaboration allows global merchants—such as travel platforms Busbud and Rocket Travel by Agoda—to cater to Latin America’s diverse payment preferences and improve customer conversion.
The Latin American digital commerce space is experiencing unprecedented growth, particularly in markets like Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. Through this partnership, businesses can easily offer payment methods familiar to local consumers, such as Pix, e-wallets, cash vouchers, credit and debit cards (including domestic brands), and installment payment options—all through an integrated, scalable solution.
Spreedly and EBANX Boost Local Payment Access for Global Merchants
“Latin America continues to be a compelling region for international growth, driven by diverse customer payment habits and strong market potential,” said Rose François, VP of Partnerships & Business Development at Spreedly. “Our partnership with EBANX enables merchants to seamlessly integrate local payment methods, improve the checkout experience, and achieve better results through localization.”
This partnership spans all 17 countries in which EBANX operates, from major markets like Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia to emerging digital economies such as Peru, Chile, and several Central American and Caribbean nations.
“Latin America is firmly on the radar of global businesses, thanks to the vast growth opportunities it presents,” said Daniel Kornitzer, VP, Head of Global Partnerships at EBANX. “Mexico and Peru alone are set to grow their digital commerce markets by 25% and 20% annually by 2027. Brazil’s online commerce market is already valued at USD 346 billion and is projected to grow to USD 586 billion by 2027, according to PCMI data."
The Pix Revolution in Travel and Recurring Payments
Pix, Brazil’s instant payment system, has transformed the digital payments space—particularly for travel businesses. According to data from Payments and Commerce Market Intelligence (PCMI), Pix already represents 33% of online travel transactions in Brazil.
"Integrating Pix through Spreedly enhances speed, security, and cost efficiency—key factors for global travel businesses serving Latin American markets,” François added.
Streaming platforms and SaaS companies are also benefiting from Pix, especially with the upcoming Pix Automático feature, launching in June 2025, which will support recurring payments. Pix transactions processed through EBANX rose by 139% last year alone. Merchants using the solution have experienced a 25% increase in customer base and a 16% upswing in revenue.
“Offering Pix is no longer optional—it’s a necessity," Kornitzer emphasized.
Cards Still Matter: A Balanced Payment Ecosystem
While alternative payment methods like Pix are quickly gaining share—expected to account for 44% of Brazil’s e-commerce transactions by 2025—traditional card payments remain vital. Credit and debit cards represent 54% of Latin America’s total online transactions, with local credit cards making up a significant portion. In Brazil alone, local cards account for 34% of online payment volume, and over 20% in markets like Argentina and Ecuador.
“Card payments continue to coexist with rising methods like Pix. Businesses must be equipped to offer multiple options to meet all customer needs,” Kornitzer noted.
Better Outcomes for Merchants and Consumers
Through the Spreedly–EBANX integration, merchants can leverage industry-leading transaction success rates and benefit from both platforms’ strengths—Spreedly’s efficient payment orchestration and intelligent routing, and EBANX’s localized acquiring capabilities and optimized rails.
“This collaboration ensures faster, more secure transactions that lead to improved customer satisfaction and retention,” said Kornitzer.
In addition to robust performance, merchants gain access to a wide array of local markets with simplified integration, enhanced scalability, improved cost control, and compliance with regional regulations.
"This partnership brings together Spreedly’s advanced orchestration technology and EBANX’s regional expertise into a unified payments experience, enabling global businesses to expand effortlessly throughout Latin America,” concluded François.
