Naver Pay said on the 24th Dec that it will provide a WeChat Pay - linked QR code payment service for domestic simple settlement in China for the first time.

 

Naver Pay has been linked with China UnionPay for Alipay + QR code payment since September last year, and now it also offers WeChat Pay. In fact, it can be used in most QR - code - payment - enabled stores in mainland China. Naver Pay is the only domestic simple - settlement company that provides QR - code - payment services of China's three major simple - settlement companies. Users don't need to install additional applications or sign up. They can enjoy point rewards after simple settlement through the Naver Pay application.

 

WeChat Pay offers MPM (Merchant Presented Mode) settlement, where users use the camera of their mobile devices to scan the QR codes provided by stores. Press the dedicated QR - code - payment camera button in the center of the lower end of the Naver Pay application, scan the QR code for WeChat Pay settlement, input the settlement amount, and press "Settle". The amount will be deducted from the user's Naver Pay points and currency balance. During settlement, the expected deducted amount in Korean won can be confirmed. If the settlement amount is larger than the balance, the recharge account connected to Naver Pay will be automatically recharged in units of 10,000 Korean won and then settled.

 

This WeChat Pay linkage is part of the cooperation between Naver Pay and UnionPay that started in September last year. Currently, UnionPay supports the WeChat Pay linkage of various simple - settlement services, including Naver Pay, in China. During the "10% immediate discount without threshold" promotion that Naver Pay and UnionPay will carry out until March next year, WeChat Pay QR - code - payment will also be applicable. At the same time, point - drawing and stamp - based rewards will be provided when using Naver Pay points and currency for QR - code - payment. The UnionPay QR - code - payment service can be used in the QR - code - payment screen of the Naver Pay application.
